I have purchased the Model Builder program and installed it on my system that runs Vista 64. I cannot get it to run. Trying to start the program gets the notorious "MSCOMCTL.OCX " error that says the file is missing or not registered properly. I tried downloading that file from Microsoft and updating it, but made no difference.
Does the program actually run in Vista 64 or is it only Vista 32? I tried installing the program on my old XP machine that has been replaced by the Vista system and Model Builder ran fine on that. Unfortunately, that is the old machine with low memory, outdated architecture, printing only to old B&W laser printer and is being discarded now that I have a newer machine.
I would appreciate any help on how to get the program running on my new machine.
Thanks!
Vista?

Hi
Thanks for getting in touch. We have lots of Vista 64 customers. We will need to research and get back with some things to try. We wouldn't want to drive you to your old XP.

"Sometime certain Microsoft Libraries can become unregistered when installing and uninstalling a lot of software. One very common problem is the MSCOMCTL.OCX."
By the way, this problem is common to all Windows OS not limited to Vista 64
Let us know if this gets you up and running!

Thanks for everyone's help. The new MBsetup file worked fine and I am playing with all of the program's buttons!
I notice that the Brickyard program is also available in the Mac OS. Will Model Builder eventually be available for that too?
Thanks again!

Yes, we get asked for a Mac version of Model Builder from time to time. It is not as easy as it sounds to port it over. It is going to be a huge amount of work to accomplish that.
At this time we are very busy with adding new features to Model Builder. Have you seen the wishlist thread?

wolf, you have posted a few times and as far as I can tell by your email contacts you are now installed. As of yesterday anyway. Your next question was adding items to the design screen. As of yesterday you have not replied to that.... so are you all set now ?
What we said about adding items to the design screen is that Model Builder writes to a temporary file while you are working on-screen. And some virus blockers set too high security level can block temp files. So either add Model Builder to your trusted list, or when you go to open Model Builder right click the program shortcut and choose "run as admin" to start the program.
