Hi,
Only had the program a couple of months but having good fun. I am currently creating a fairly large building that requires importing a large number of gif items. When I click on import (or import line drawing) I get the MODEL BUILDER IMPORT OPTIONS ( OR BUILDING LINE DIAGRAM) and click DO NOT SHOW THIS INFORMATION AGAIN then click OK this information is not saved, so, everytime I select import (or import line drawing) I get the MODEL BUILDER IMPORT OPTIONS ( OR BUILDING LINE DIAGRAM) message again. This is becoming tedious when I am importing 18 or 20 items in a session. I am running Windows XP SP3 which is fully up to date. Your input or advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Jim.

Hi Jim
Sorry for the inconvenience, yes I can imagine it gets tiresome to see the help message every time. We will check into why the information is not being written to your profile.
When you mention you are importing 20 or more items, did you know you can duplicate an item once it is imported? It is better to use duplicate instead of re-importing the same item if possible. It keeps the file size smaller.

Thanks for the response. I did find out about the duplicate function which will save me a bit of time in the future, however, the project that I am working does still involve importing a lot of different images.
Perhaps a little about the project might be appropriate at this time.
Although heavily involved in computers and train simulators I used to be involved in model trains. I came across model builder by accident a couple of months ago and decided to have a go at some models. I then happened across a cardboard model of a bus depot from where I used to live in England, just outside of London. I had a look on google earth and in the street view saw that the imagery is so good that I should be able to use the images and duplicate some of the buildings around the bus depot and create a diorama of a streetscape and make some cardboard vehicles as well. The building that I am working on at the moment is a three storey building that has nine shops at street level. I have taken images from google street view, removed the perspective and straightened, and am able to import them into modelbuilder.
At 65 years of age and retired from the work force I have plenty of time to work on it and hope to end up with a two metre long diorama depicting a little bit of England where I grew up.
Regards.
Jim.

Jim,
I looked into the import dialog showing each time you import an image. Although this worked in earlier versions it doesn't work on the current version. I will make sure it works on the next update.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the Software and thank you for sharing how you are using Model Builder.
I have aware of other Modelers that share a particular interest to a town or area that either they previously lived, or visited that they were able to recreate using Model Builder

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the response, it does become a bit laborious, I imported about ten items then found they were too dark, then had to re-import after I had lightened them. I look forward to the next update.

Jim.

Hi Dave,
Have just installed the update, noticed several improvements to the program. However the problem with all information windows still exists, checking the 'do not show this information again' makes no difference, the information window presents itself every time.

hi Jim
Yes, it turned out to be a bit of work to turn off that information window. We did think the work around would be to edit your personal "ini" file to get rid of it. But that is not a way right now either.
We do know you are concerned about it though and we will see what we can do.
By the way, the direct link to the Model Builder update page is:

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for the latest update, it has fixed the problem and stopped the information windows.
Something that I have just noticed with this update is that although I have metric selected upon startup it defaults to inches on the startup screen every time.
Regards,
Jim.

well glad we got rid of that annoying reminder box for you.
The metric not "remembering" has been that way for awhile now. We will make a note of it. At least you only have to change it once
